I followed the first couple steps but i can never seem to get the model outlined perfectly

I have the picture of the model but it wont outline the whole model it just outlines half of it or it and part of the back ground

try to set your toleration to a lower level (10-20)
if that won't work, I'm affraid you'l have to erase the whole background by brushing...

somke what better I think the picture is too dark adn the colors aren't differant enough for then to stand out
